Livestock Health Data Facing Cyber RisksĀ
This study report is based on in-depth research aimed at addressing the issue of cyber risks to livestock health data. It is structured around three key pillars.
First, a comprehensive study of the challenges facing the veterinary diagnostics sector in today’s global context, alongside an overview of the key stakeholders driving the industry. What data is generated, by whom, how, and for what purpose? It highlights the data flows between stakeholders and the systems used to facilitate them.
The second section provides a detailed analysis of the threats facing the veterinary diagnostics sector, specifically through a review of threat actors with a interest in targeting this domain. A risk assessment was then conducted focusing on the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and traceability of data: By what means can these be compromised, and what would the potential impacts be? Benchmarking these findings against the sector’s current level of maturity sheds light on its overall posture when facing these threats and risks.
The final pillar focuses on the human, technological, and procedural levers to be deployed in order to elevate maturity levels. Ongoing projects are examined as sources of inspiration for standardization and interoperability. It also addresses the governance challenges surrounding the security of animal health data. Cultural aspects of the profession, regulatory frameworks, and funding mechanisms for these solutions are all analyzed to deliver concrete answers to the issues raised.
